How to create a family member and viewing family information

Learn how to create a family member and viewing family information

Navigate to the Records (1) in the Navigation bar. Click the Record reference link (2) to enter the record of your desired case.

On the right-hand side, view patent family members (3). Hover over each member to see key details. Click on any member to open its record.

At the top of the record, click the Relations button (4) to open a family tree view.

Hover over nodes (5) for details or click to navigate to a specific family member’s record.

This view works similarly for trademarks (e.g., by linking cases via priority dates or brands).

Creating a new family member

Option 1 - Use the three-dot menu (1) in the top-right corner of the record and select Add Family Member.

Option 2 - Go to the Relations tab (2), where you’ll get an overview of all your family members.

Click Add Family Member (3).

When you click Add family member, a modal will appear to select the jurisdiction for the new family member.

Key information like family details, case references, bibliographical details (abstract, claims), applicant details, and responsible parties is copied automatically.

The system generates a reference number, which you can override.

Optionally, include additional data like local filing details, documents, and images.

Select Add More Countries to bulk-create records in other jurisdictions.

Select the jurisdictions you want to create family members in.

Once you have chosen all your jurisdictions, click Create Case.

Once completed, refresh the record to see the newly added family members in the Relations view and the family tree.
